Vietnam is one of the fastest growing telecommunications markets in the world and the country is embarking on an aggressive development of its IT and telecommunications infrastructure. This is particularly important considering the countries recent entry into the World Trade Organization and growing international trade in the region and globally.
Vietnam has a large and growing population. Telecom and internet deployment has only just begun from a very low penetration level. The limitation of infrastructure for international communications is starting to become a problem as the domestic demand grows stronger and international trade increases rapidly. Tricom Asia and its partner VNPT in Vietnam will address this issue by the implementation of a new multi terabit fiber optical submarine cable linking Vietnam to the rest of the world.
The Population of Vietnam is around 85M and growing with around 1.2% annually. One of the most interesting aspects of the population is the very young demography of the country. At present 50% of the population is 25 years of age or below, 33 % is in fact younger than 15 years.
